BLACK GIRLS VOTE CELEBRATES THE HISTORIC CONFIRMATION OF JUSTICE KETANJI BROWN JACKSON
(April 7, 2022) – Black Girls Vote Founder and CEO Nykidra Robinson today issued the following statement on the historic confirmation of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson:
“At Black Girls Vote, we fight for the interests of Black women because we know that when Black women win, we all do. Today’s historic and long overdue confirmation of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson represents a critical step toward more representation and attention to the issues that directly impact Black women, our families and our communities. As Black women, we know that nothing is ever handed to us – that we have to be excellent and meet impossible standards at times. Justice Jackson is more than qualified and she persevered through it all with impeccable character, integrity and brilliance. Without question, she belongs on the Supreme Court.
“While we celebrate today, we know that there is still work to do tomorrow to address issues including Black maternal health, economic disparities, protecting the right to vote and expanding civic engagement, advancing quality education from pre-k through college, and centering the power of diverse, under-resourced and underserved Americans. We look forward to Justice Jackson’s leadership on the nation’s highest court.”
