BGV is looking for volunteers to take on positions within the organization. Below, you will find more information about the positions that are open, what they do, and the expectation of holding the positions.

Committees Description

Advocacy Committee: Focuses on getting BGV to be more vocal in their support/opposition of policy and proposed legislation.

Collegiate Ambassador Committee: Focuses on creating and documenting clear processes for schools interested in BGV, active chapters, and collegiate ambassadors.

Outreach Committee: Organize events that engages the community and identify partnership, sponsorship and donor opportunities.

Roles and Responsibilities Committee: Focuses on ensuring all positional duties and expectations has a clear alignment to BGV priorities. Develop processes and systems that will improve operational efficiency and help other committees execute their tasks.

Lead and Co-Lead Positional Duties and Expectations

Committee Lead

Reports to: CEO

Volunteer hours: 5-7 hours weekly

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: As a committee lead you are accountable for the successful execution of supporting committee priorities and projects, ensuring all deadlines are met, and securing project sign-off with the project champion(s).

In addition, it is expected that you will attend the following but not limited to meetings:

  • BGV Monthly All-Hands Meeting
  • Bi-Weekly Committee Meetings (day and time to be determined by team)
  • Monthly Leadership Meetings
  • Ad Hoc – Project sign-off meetings

Skills and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Previous organizational experience and/or supporting general operations
  • Experience being a supervisor or managing people and/or teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers/vendors/suppliers/contractors
  • Basic computer skills (i.e. emailing, typing, etc.)
  • Ability and willingness to learn and use BGV specific software and systems
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing the team with the necessary guidance and support
  • Ability to project manage and facilitate execution of assigned tasks
  • Ability to align and allocate resources to support team/committee objectives
  • High engagement and responsiveness to emails/texts/etc.

Committee Co-Lead

Reports to: Committee Lead

Volunteer hours: 4-6 hours weekly

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: As a committee co-lead you are responsible for tracking priority performance, managing project execution, publishing team updates (via the designated project management file and any other necessary methods), escalating and troubleshooting risks.

In addition, it is expected that you will attend the following but not limited to meetings:

  • BGV Monthly All-Hands Meeting
  • Bi-Weekly Committee Meetings (day and time to be determined by team); must be able to attend 90% of the meetings
  • Monthly Leadership Meetings
  • Supporting Project Meetings

Skills and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Committee Member Duties and Expectations

Committee Member

Reports to: Committee Co-Lead

Volunteer hours: 2-4 hours weekly

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: As a committee team member, you are responsible for the successful execution of actions, projects, and/or priorities on the committee.

In addition, it is expected that you will attend the following but not limited to meetings:

  • BGV Monthly All-Hands Meeting
  • Bi-Weekly Committee Meetings (day and time to be determined by team); must be able to attend 90% of the meetings
  • Supporting Project Meetings

Skills and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Experience working on teams or organizations
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills (i.e. emailing, typing, etc.)
  • Ability and willingness to learn and use BGV specific software and systems
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals
  • Strong execution and teamwork skills
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing the team with the necessary guidance and support
  • Ability to use email/text/BGV specific software to communicate with various team members
